Paul Ulloa is a product designer based in Long Beach, CA. He designs products, builds the systems behind them, and helps teams figure out what they're actually making. Mostly in fintech, though not always.
Paul has spent his career on products where the hard part isn't the interface, it's the decisions underneath it. He's led design at the platform level and at the brand level. Before that he managed design teams and worked across in-house and agency environments, which is where he learned that the fastest way to lose a good idea is a bad handoff.
His work tends to start earlier than most design engagements do. That means shaping the research plan, pressure-testing feature ideas against regulatory and technical constraints, and building the creative brief that gets leadership aligned before a single screen exists. It also means staying through delivery: design systems, documentation, and the kind of enablement that lets an internal team keep the work coherent after he's gone.
He works most often in fintech and other regulated categories, where trust is the product and the constraints are real.
